Ooo, look! Pictures! Of a FO!

I finally got to use DH's new digital camera. Sweeeeet. A Nikon D80. Yeah, so the subject wasn't very interesting, but hey. I also went out and took photos of headstones to upload to Find-A-Grave, but didn't think you'd want to see them.

Anyway, here are my Latvian Socks from Nancy Bush's Folk Socks. They were knit using Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock yarn (I think the color was Iris), on size 2 needles. They are a bit stretchy, but I didn't want to knit them on any smaller needles. I tend to use a larger needle size and a bit heavier yarn for some of these patterns so I can get the extra size I need. I only had enough yarn for 8 repeats of the pattern in the leg of the sock (it called for 10). If I had had enough yarn, I would have made knee socks.


Here is another shot. The pattern doesn't show up really well, but I like subtle and unexpected. If I had thought about it, I would have done the star toe in the opposite direction so they would lean towards the big toe on each foot.

This is the pattern I'm using for my Sockapalooza pal. I'm using a fingering weight (almost lace weight) 100% wool that I dyed with food coloring. I think I'm going to call the color "sour apple" because it reminds me of a cross between Granny Smith apples, Lemonheads, and Apple Jolly Ranchers. I'll post a photo of them later. I'm knitting them on 0's (like the pattern says), and they are turning out much narrower than this pair (I hope that they fit her foot)!

Plans for the weekend include knitting, annoying the kid, and hopefully going to the pool (where I can knit while Sean plays in the pool). I'm going on a field trip with him next week (that should be fun), and then next weekend (yes, I do plan out that far in advance) is a reunion in U.C. Whether or not they intended it, it has become the Heuss/Montano reunion. Got to love it when the family tree gets tangled.
