Thank you SP!!!

I know that I emailed you the other day, but I need to PUBLICLY thank you for the ab-fab gifties.

No photos (as DH has hidden the camera yet again) but imagine, if you will...:

2 balls of Noro, one in a purple colorway and a second in a pink. Bright, I love it!
1 book: One Skein projects. Though, I do have to see just how big some of those "one skeins" are, because that tee-shirt in there might fit my size 1 niece.
A Creative Memories 7x7 album and a box of pre-cut shapes. Very cool. DH and I had just the night before been talking about helping Sean with an album for photos of his grandma.
A button that says, "I'd rather be knitting." That is SO true.
And a box of Salt Water Taffy. I haven't had taffy in ages, and this stuff is the real deal. I'll probably save some to help Sean out when he looses more teeth.

News of the Weird.

Note to self: Never make promises to someone on their deathbed if you don't think you can carry through.

OK, I did something today that I would NEVER have thought about doing in a bazillion years: I helped do hair and makeup on my MIL. You know, the dead one.

I met up with FIL and MIL's best friend and her daughter at the funeral home. We met up with one of the guys who normally does this. It was pretty freaky starting out, but then as we eased into it, it got easier. We got past the initial "You touch her." "No you touch her." "Is she cold?" "Is she hard?"

Her face was pretty gray, which was kind of suprising, but the guy handed us some tint to brush on her face which pinked her right up. Then we started in on the foundation.

Kerry did most of her makeup and I did eyebrows and nails. The woman practically had a spa treatment and wasn't here to enjoy it. Though, I did notice a slight smile on her lips as we finished.

She is wearing a brown pin-stripe suit, a cream mock turtle shell, and a pair of socks that I made for her that totally don't match, but she wanted to wear them. She told me so while I was knitting them. She also asked me if I wanted them back after the funeral, since she is to be cremated. I told her no, because I had made them for her.

The viewing is tomorrow, the funeral is Thursday. Friday is reserved for heavy drinking.

It's over

Vince's mom passed last night around 11:30. He was with her, along with her husband and other family and friends. I was home with Sean. I'll miss her terribly, but glad this ordeal and her pain are over.

Sh*t or get off the pot

This is what my best friend said to me when she called the other night asking about my MIL.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Damn, that was harsh." But I actually had to laugh outloud. You get to a point in a situation like this one where, despite the knowledge of what is actually happening, you really can't wait for it all to be over.

You never want to wish ill for anyone, always asking for positive thoughts. Well, the positive thoughts have gone from 'get well soon' to 'let the end be swift.'

Somebody send me a bottle of tequila.
